ONEIDA, Wis. (WFRV) – A 33-year-old Outagamie County man was arrested on charges of OWI and Hit and Run after allegedly crashing into and seriously injuring a bicyclist early Sunday morning.
According to the Outagamie County Sheriff’s Office, deputies were sent to County Trunk E near County Trunk J in the Town of Oneida just after 2:30 a.m. on August 18 for reports of a vehicle that had crashed into a bicyclist.

Deputies say that a preliminary investigation revealed a vehicle, driven by a 33-year-old man from Oneida, was driving on County Trunk E when he allegedly hit a 56-year-old man from De Pere who was riding a bike.
The De Pere man sustained severe injuries and was taken to a local hospital via Theda Star for treatment.
Deputies believe that alcohol was a factor in the crash and the driver of the vehicle was arrested and taken to the Outagamie County Jail on charges of Operating While Intoxicated – Causing Injury and Hit and Run – Causing Injury.

The incident remains under investigation.
The Outagamie County Sheriff’s Office was assisted on the scene by the Wisconsin State Patrol, Oneida Tribal Police, Oneida Fire Department, Oneida First Responders, Freedom First Responders, County Rescue Ambulance, Theda Star, and the Outagamie County Highway Department.
