Land O’Lakes donating several tons of mac and cheese to Wisconsin hunger relief organization

APPLETON, Wis. (WFRV) – In a show of support for Feeding America Eastern Wisconsin’s (FAEW) efforts to solve hunger, one company is donating nearly 20 tons of macaroni and cheese to the hunger relief organization.

Land O’Lakes, Inc. is donating its signature mac and cheese through its First Run Program, which was established in 2010. The program has contributed to over seven million pounds of donations since its induction.

The program donates ‘truckloads’ of fresh products on a year-round basis, which are specifically made for food banks that work to combat hunger across the nation.

Liz Wollenberg, FAEW’s Vice President of regional strategy and resource development said while they’ve gotten donations from Land O’Lakes before, this was a specific occasion.

“This one was just specific and created just for supporting hunger relief organizations,” Wollenberg said. “What’s really great is that it’s the equivalent of about 33,000 meals.”

Wollenberg added that this mac and cheese is frozen, so it will be easy to store and distribute, but also simple for families to prepare.
