ST. FRANCIS, Wis. (WFRV) – One person was transported to the hospital and is in serious condition after a vehicle reportedly ran a red light and crashed into the back of a moped in southeast Wisconsin on Tuesday morning.
According to a release, officers from the St. Francis Police Department responded to the intersection of East Layton Avenue and South Whitnall Avenue for a report of a car versus moped crash with injuries.

A preliminary investigation revealed a vehicle driven by a 49-year-old man from Chicago, Illinois, was traveling west on East Layton Avenue, approaching the intersection at South Whitnall Avenue.
A 64-year-old Cudahy man operating a moped was attempting to make a right turn from the Whitnall Square shopping center onto East Layton Avenue when the vehicle hit him.
At this time, the St. Francis Police Department says it appears the driver of the vehicle disregarded a red traffic light.
The 64-year-old man suffered injuries from the crash and was transported to a nearby hospital in serious condition. The 49-year-old man was not injured and stayed on the scene. He is cooperating with investigators.
