Driver pronounced dead after going off Door County ferry dock

LIBERTY GROVE, Wis. (WFRV) – Numerous agencies, including the United States Coast Guard, assisted the Door County Sheriff’s Office when the driver of an SUV drove off a ferry dock and was pronounced dead at the scene.

According to the Door County Sheriff’s Office, deputies received a report of a vehicle that had reportedly driven off of the ferry dock around 7:25 p.m. on October 10. Deputies say the ferry dock was in the 200 block of STH 42 in Liberty Grove.

An initial investigation showed that an SUV was heading north on STH 42 when it approached the ferry dock and drove into the water. Deputies reported that the driver was pronounced dead at the scene. They were the only one in the SUV at the time of the incident.

The incident remains under investigation.
