Manitowoc man sentenced to quarter-century in prison for child porn

MANITOWOC, Wis. (WFRV) – U.S. District Attorney Gregory J. Haanstad for the Eastern District of Wisconsin announced on Friday that a 49-year-old Wisconsin man was sentenced to 300 months (25 years) in prison.

Robert Nytes of Manitowoc was indicted on child pornography charges in October by a federal grand jury.

Court records revealed that Nytesis a registered sex offender in the state of Wisconsin stemming from a conviction of second-degree sexual assault of a child 30 years ago in Sheboygan County.

In August 2023, officials were alerted that Nytes repeatedly sexually assaulted a minor and used the child to produce porn which he uploaded to multiple devices.

He was charged and pled guilty to a federal charge of receiving child pornography.

Judge William C. Griesbach said the crime was horrendous, and noted Nytes’ history of these crimes when determining the 300-month sentence.

Nytes will spend the next quarter-century in prison before being on supervised release for the remainder of his life while continuing to be a registered sex offender.
