Deputies: Marinette man dies after crashing into home, speed & alcohol a factor

PORTERFIELD, Wis. (WFRV) – Deputies believe speed and alcohol to have played a factor in a deadly Marinette County crash where a driver collided with a home off State Highway 180.

According to the Marinette County Sheriff’s Office, deputies responded to a crash around 10:50 p.m. on January 23 in the N5000 block of State Highway 180 in Porterfield. It was reported that the vehicle crashed into a home.

An initial investigation showed that the vehicle was heading south on 180 when the driver reportedly failed to navigate a turn, drove through a ditch, and crashed into a house.

The driver, later identified as 23-year-old Brady T. Walters of Marinette, was pronounced dead at the scene. Deputies stated that Walters was not wearing a seatbelt and believed alcohol and speed to be contributing factors in the crash.

The crash remains under investigation. No other details were released.
