FOND DU LAC, Wis. (WFRV) – Authorities in Fond du Lac say a woman is now in custody following a 6-mile pursuit Tuesday night.
According to a release from the Fond du Lac Police Department, officers responded at 11:32 p.m. for a reckless driving complaint in the area of West Johnson Street and North Peters Avenue.
Officials say a witness reported that a dark-colored SUV was swerving between lanes, driving with the headlights off, and allegedly attempting to ram the witness’s vehicle.
The witness was able to safely pull over and meet with a Fond du Lac officer while additional officers continued to look for the suspect vehicle.
One officer later found the vehicle going east on West Johnson Street near North Pioneer Road and attempted to make a traffic stop.
While attempting to make the stop, police say the vehicle continued heading east through several intersections before making a U-turn at North Seymour Street before pulling over.
Officers attempted to order the woman out of the vehicle but she reportedly did not apply and sped off heading west on West Johnson Street.
Police, along with deputies from the Fond du Lac County Sheriff’s Office and troopers from the Wisconsin State Patrol, pursued the woman down West Johnson Street and out of the city while reaching speeds up to 65 miles per hour.
Stop sticks were successfully deployed near Highway 23 and County Road Y where the driver finally slowed down and pulled over.
