Sheriff’s office in Wisconsin continuing investigation into 1980s homicide cold case

SHEBOYGAN, Wis. (WFRV) – Authorities in Sheboygan County are revisiting the decades-old cold case homicide of Rhys Pocan, a 35-year-old woman whose tragic death in 1989 remains unsolved.

On August 10, 1989, Pocan was abducted while walking along National Avenue in Milwaukee.

She was later found brutally murdered and dismembered. Her head and hands were discovered by hunters at Vernon Marsh, a public hunting ground in Waukesha County, while her torso was recovered in Nichols Creek, a public hunting area in Sheboygan County.

To bring new attention to the case, the popular Crime Junkie podcast has dedicated two episodes to the investigation.

The first episode aired on Monday, and the second part is set to release on February 24. Additionally, a video documentary about the case will premiere on Crime Junkie’s YouTube channel on March 7.
