MADISON, Wis. (WFRV) – Appleton residents can bask in glory knowing that they have the best tap water in the state after they won the 2024 Wisconsin Tap Water Taste Test.
The contest was held during the Wisconsin American Water Works Association (WIAWWA) annual fall conference. With the victory, Appleton Water Utility advances to the national competition which will take place in Denver next summer.

Appleton Water Utility serves about 75,000 people with water from Lake Winnebago. The company’s process to deliver water to customers is an advanced treatment effort through lime softening, recarbonation, filtration, fluoridation, UV treatment and disinfection.
“We are incredibly proud of this achievement and the hard work of our team,” relief operator Kyle Smith said. “It’s an honor to be recognized for delivering water that is not only safe but also tastes great. We look forward to representing Wisconsin at the national competition in Denver.”
The National Tap Water Taste Test will occur in Denver next June during the 2024 American Water Works Association Annual Conference and Exposition.
