ARCADIA, Wis. (WFRV) – Before a high-speed pursuit that ended with a crash into a power pole, the driver reportedly hit and injured a Wisconsin State Patrol Trooper while fleeing the initial scene.
A release posted by the Trempealeau County Sheriff’s Office states that the string of incidents began with a welfare check of a man allegedly yelling at people near Blaschko Avenue and Sobotta Street in Arcadia.

An officer with the Arcadia Police Department and a trooper with the Wisconsin State Patrol responded to the scene around 5:05 p.m. on January 28 and found the man in a vehicle. He reportedly refused to comply with officers.
The man, later identified as 47-year-old Arcadia resident Michael Peterson, fled the scene, allegedly hitting the trooper with his vehicle in the process.
A pursuit began southbound on STH 93, spanning roughly 15 miles while at times reaching speeds of over 100mph. Deputies say Peterson eventually crashed into a power pole near Four Corners, a bar & grill in Centerville.

Peterson was taken to a local hospital for treatment of minor injuries before being transported to the Trempealeau County Jail. He was booked on the following charges:
- Battery to a Law Enforcement Officer
- Operator Flee Elude Officer
- Recklessly Endangering Safety
The Trooper reportedly took himself to a local hospital for treatment of minor injuries.
