(WFRV) – Three-time first-team All-Pro. 5-time Pro Bowler. Packers Hall of Famer. Now, Pro Football Hall of Famer.
Former Green Bay Packers wide receiver Sterling Sharpe has gotten the ‘Call to the Hall’ as a member of the ‘senior candidates’ after his illustrious albeit short 7-year NFL career, all of which he spent in Green and Gold.

Sharpe, a Chicago native and former South Carolina Gamecock, was drafted with the No. 7 overall pick in the 1988 NFL Draft, and in seven years with Green Bay, he was among the league’s elite.
He led the league in receptions three times in five years, in 1989 and 1992-1993. Sharpe was also the first player in league history to record two seasons with at least 100 receptions, with his 108 in 1992 standing as a then-NFL record.
His career was cut short by a neck injury, but, after 595 receptions, 65 touchdown grabs and 8134 yards, Sharpe will be enshrined in Canton, Ohio as a member of the Pro Football Hall of Fame, the 29th Packer to ever receive the prestigious honor.

Sharpe’s induction also makes him and his brother, former tight end Shannon Sharpe, the first siblings ever inducted into Canton.
Sharpe joins former Chargers tight end Antonio Gates, former Chiefs, Vikings, Bears and Panthers pass rusher Jared Allen and former Eagles, Saints and Raiders cornerback Eric Allen in this year’s Hall of Fame class.
