CHETEK, Wis. (WFRV) — Two people are dead following a brutal stabbing on Sunday at a residence in northwestern Wisconsin.
According to the Barron County Sheriff’s Office, deputies received a report of a woman lying outside in a pool of blood at a home just north of Chetek. Responding authorities used the Barron County Bearcat, an armored personnel carrier, to safely approach the scene.

Deputies found the woman, identified as 51-year-old Michelle Turnipseed, deceased outside the residence. Inside the home, they discovered the body of 53-year-old Michael Turnipseed, with a knife located nearby.
A preliminary investigation revealed that the two were separated and involved in an active case in the Wisconsin Circuit Court system, which included a no-contact order. Michael reportedly arrived at the residence around noon, and Michelle initially agreed to his presence. Authorities believe an altercation occurred shortly thereafter, resulting in both individuals suffering fatal stab wounds.

The family has been notified, and the Barron County Sheriff’s Office expressed its condolences, stating, “Our thoughts and prayers are with the family.” Deputies also urged the public to contact law enforcement if someone is experiencing abuse.
