‘I knew I was in the right place’: Miss America visits Green Bay ahead of NFL Draft

GREEN BAY, Wis. (WFRV) – Several notable celebrities are arriving in Green Bay for the 2025 NFL Draft, and Miss America made a stop at the Taste of the Draft event on Wednesday.

Local 5 Sports Reporter Lauren Helmbrecht caught up with Abbie Stockard, who represented Alabama in the Miss America competition, to hear her first impressions of Titletown.

“I am so excited to be here in Green Bay,” said Stockard. “I have to say, receiving cheese curds was my first impression. I’ve never been anywhere where I’ve received a bag of cheese curds the second I walked off the plane, but I love cheese, so I knew I was in the right place.”

Stockard, who is working with GenYouth — a partner in organizing the Taste of the Draft alongside the Green Bay Packers and Schreiber Foods — emphasized the importance of tackling food insecurity nationwide.

“Unfortunately, this is still a pressing issue in our world today, one that needs community awareness and continued education,” she said. “Also, increased fundraising participation, and that’s exactly what events like today are doing.”

A proud Auburn student, Stockard acknowledged the fierce rivalry between Auburn and Alabama, but wished the best for Crimson Tide players entering the draft.

“As much as it hurts me to say it because I’m an Auburn girl through and through, I hope the best for them. As Miss America, I’m Miss America for everyone — including all the Bama fans — so I’m wishing them the best of luck!”
