WASHINGTON COUNTY, Wis. (WFRV) – A multi-vehicle collision happened on I-41 in southeastern Wisconsin Thursday afternoon after a semi overturned when its tire blew out, injuring two.
Multiple 911 calls came in around 4:05 p.m. on April 17 reporting a semi crash on I-41, between Hwy 28 and Cty Tk D, prompting a response from the Washington County Sheriff’s Office.
Callers notified authorities that the semi was overturned in the median, and other vehicles crashed as a result. When first responders arrived, the semi driver was out of the cab with no injuries.
An investigation showed that the southbound semi sustained a steer-tire blowout while traveling down I-41, causing it to overturn in the median.
Due to the blowout and crash, a large amount of dirt and gravel was thrown into the northbound lanes, causing two additional northbound vehicles to crash. Two people in one of the northbound vehicles were taken to a local hospital with suspected minor injuries.
