‘Suspicious’ bathroom fire at Grand Chute Woodmans under investigation

GRAND CHUTE, Wis. (WFRV) – The Grand Chute Fire Department (GCFD) was dispatched to Woodman’s Grocery Store on North Westhill Blvd. after receiving reports of what is called a ‘suspicious’ fire just after 4 p.m. on Friday.

According to the release, the dispatchers in Outagamie County were informed that black smoke was seen in a store bathroom and people were evacuating as the fire alarm sounded.

GCFD crews found the smoke and a small fire in the bathroom after it was extinguished by the automatic sprinkler system in the building. Along with Woodman’s employees, the GCFD helped remove water and shut down the sprinkler system.

The store remains open with no damage estimates available at this time. No injuries were reported as well.
