‘This community deserves it:’ NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell reflects on decision to bring draft to Green Bay

GREEN BAY, Wis. (WFRV) – NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell is in Green Bay for the 2025 NFL Draft and has spent time exploring the community and soaking in the city’s atmosphere.

Local 5 News spoke with Goodell, who shared why he decided to bring the league’s biggest offseason event to its smallest market.

“I like our chances, and I think this is going to be a great event,” said Goodell. “This community deserves it. The franchise deserves it. And I think it’s going to be great for the NFL and this country.”

The first round of the 2025 NFL Draft is scheduled to begin at 7 p.m., with the Green Bay Packers holding the 23rd overall pick, barring any draft-day trades.
