Wisconsin man arrested on 2nd OWI, homicide charges after crash leaves 2 dead

JANESVILLE, Wis. (WFRV) – After allegedly causing a crash that killed two people on Saturday morning, a man from southern Wisconsin was arrested on a second OWI offense and two homicide charges.

According to the Janesville Police Department, 32-year-old Koty Diaz reportedly failed to stop at the red light on East Delavan Drive and Beloit Avenue, hitting a vehicle going north on Beloit. Both occupants of the northbound vehicle were pronounced dead at the scene of the crash.

Officers were called to the scene of the crash, which happened just before 2:15 a.m. on August 17. Officers say that Diaz allegedly showed signs of impairment and failed field sobriety tests. Blood results are currently pending.

Diaz, a Janesville resident was arrested on the following charges:

  • Two charges of Homicide by Intoxicated Use of a Motor Vehicle
  • Two charges of Operating After Revocation Causing Death
  • Operating Under the Influence of an Intoxicant – 2nd Offense
